StuCo Member Info

Hi StuCo leader, this program is about you. Yes, it is your program. All we are doing is providing a few tools and the framework for you and your StuCo team to do wonderful things. We are confident that your imagination will far exceed what we might provide, so go for it.

A few years back, some friends graduated from the University of Texas and founded what is now one of the largest advertising agencies in the United States. The ad agency actually has their company’s core values chiseled into their floor. Two of my favorite values are “freedom” and “responsibility”.

4empowerment’s programs are like that, they provide you with a lot of freedom, and within that you have responsibilities. What are your responsibilities? Lets hit a few hot ones:

Establish your StuCo 4empowerment committee
Check out Suggested Schedules and Activities, plan and implement your campus projects
Start your campus beautification program, download and use the garbology data forms
Obtain your password to the 4empowerment web site from your Advisor, log on, update your preferences and take the site scavenger hunt

Tip: Pick a password to the web site that you can really remember, so you don’t bug your Advisor J
Post your data, photos and reports to the 4empowerment site (Always be smart about online activity, with photos do not post last names, and always use school appropriate language, set an example!)
Participate in online discussion forms, contribute ideas for polls and surveys
record observations and ideas in your 4e-journal
Involve experts, invite local professionals for training in water quality testing and critter identification (biodiversity) and career insights
Oh, and keep your eyes and ears open for possible contests announced on the electronic 4e-newsletter

So, those are a few of your responsibilities. What will you get in return? Well, that really depends on you!

Sure you’ll get points towards Outstanding Student Council, but that’s just the start. Hear a few of your fellow students talk about Cyberways and Waterways. What will be your story?

Have fun, work hard, develop your 4empowerment StuCo team and get involved in your campus and community. As the year progresses, reach out to establish virtual StuCo teams across Texas. Who knows, one day you may be interacting and developing projects with StuCo’s around the United States as well as in other countries.
