Professional Resume: Rachel Muir graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1994 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science with Honors and studied under the tutelage of Sarah Weddington. When Rachel was 26 years old, she launched Girlstart with $500 and a credit card determined to empower girls in math, science and technology. Rachel has presented around the country at events, conferences and workshops and is a proud recipient of Oprah Winfrey's Use Your Life Award. She was recognized as one of Austin's leading women in technology by the Austin American Statesman and named Best Role Model for Girls by the Austin Chronicle.
Ms. Muir is also a recipient of the Austin Under 40 Award in Youth and Education, GE's Women Helping Women Award, and the Bridge Award. Ms. Muir was nominated for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001 and 2002, the Oxygen's Women of Strength Award, and the JPMorgan Chase Honoree of the Month Award.
